Privacy Policy

Effective 13 August 2026 · Last updated 13 August 2026

The short version. Your video, audio, and scripts stay on your device. Promptra runs no server that receives your footage, and there is no analytics or advertising SDK in the app. The only things that leave your device are the ones described below, and each happens because you asked for it.

1. Who we are

Promptra is built and published by YM-Coded Studios, a mobile and full-stack software studio founded by Mohammed Yussif and based in Wa, Upper West Region, Ghana. We are the data controller for the purposes of this policy.

We are a small independent studio, which is part of why Promptra is built the way it is: there is no advertising business to fund and no data pipeline to feed, so the app processes your work on your own device rather than on servers we would have to run.

You can reach us at codedspartant@gmail.com.

2. What stays on your device

By default, essentially everything. The following are created, stored, and processed locally, and are never transmitted to us:

Automatic caption generation and voice-paced scrolling use Apple's speech recognition, configured to run on-device wherever iOS reports that on-device recognition is available.

Eye-contact coaching uses Apple's Vision framework to detect your face and gaze in the live camera feed, entirely on-device. No facial measurements, biometric templates, or identifiers are captured, stored, or transmitted — the analysis exists only for the instant it takes to draw the on-screen coaching indicator.

The same applies on Apple Watch, where Promptra's companion app acts as a remote control and shows script state. It receives only what it needs to do that, and holds no recordings.

3. What leaves your device, and why

3.1 iCloud sync

Script text and project metadata sync between your own devices using Apple's CloudKit private database. This is your iCloud account, not ours: the data is governed by Apple's privacy policy, and we cannot read it. Turning off iCloud for Promptra in iOS Settings stops this. Recorded video files are not synced.

3.2 Subscriptions

Subscriptions are sold through the Apple App Store and managed with RevenueCat. Purchase and receipt data, plus a pseudonymous app user identifier, are shared with RevenueCat so your subscription works across your devices. We do not receive your payment details — Apple handles payment and never gives them to us.

3.3 Optional cloud AI ("bring your own key")

Promptra's AI features run on your device by default, using Apple Intelligence or an open-weight model you choose to download. You may optionally supply your own API key for a third-party provider (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, or any OpenAI-compatible endpoint).

If you do:

3.4 Sharing to other platforms

Promptra can hand a finished video to another app on your device, such as TikTok, Instagram or YouTube, so you can post it. This is always something you start, and it is never required to use the rest of the app.

3.5 Diagnostics

Promptra subscribes to Apple's MetricKit to read crash and performance reports about itself. These are written to the device's local system log only — they are not transmitted to us. Separately, if you have enabled "Share iPhone Analytics" in iOS Settings, Apple may share aggregated crash data with us as a developer; that is Apple's mechanism, and it is controlled entirely by that iOS setting.

4. What we do not do

5. Permissions the app asks for

Permission Why
Camera Recording video. Frames are processed on-device.
Microphone Recording audio, and voice-paced teleprompter scrolling.
Speech recognition Automatic captions and voice pacing, on-device where available.
Photos (add only) Saving your exported videos. Add-only access means Promptra cannot read your existing library.

Every one of these can be revoked in iOS Settings at any time.

6. Retention

Content on your device stays until you delete it, or until you delete the app. Exported files are subject to an in-app retention policy you can manage under Settings. iCloud data persists until you remove it or disable sync.

Subscription records are retained by Apple and RevenueCat under their own policies, for as long as needed to keep your entitlement working and to meet their legal and accounting obligations. We hold no separate copy.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, export, or delete personal data we hold, and to object to or restrict processing. Because Promptra holds almost nothing about you — there is no account, and your content never reaches us — most of these are exercised directly on your device by deleting the content or the app.

For anything relating to subscription records, write to codedspartant@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.

8. Children

Promptra is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.

9. International transfers

We are based in Ghana, and Promptra is distributed worldwide through the App Store. Where you use optional third-party services — iCloud, RevenueCat, an AI provider you supply a key for, or a social platform you share to — your data may be processed in countries other than your own, under those providers' own safeguards. Your footage never passes through a Promptra server.

10. Changes

We will update this page when the app's data handling changes, and revise the "last updated" date above. Material changes will be surfaced in the app.

11. Contact

Questions about any of this, or a request about your data — write to us. A person reads every message.
